National Institute on Drug Abuse(NIH), answer question is marijuana a medicine? article from

This is completely unchanged from the NIH. This information is not biased one way or another, but it sure shows some real truths about medicinal value. Then it crushes a blow. This article will assist you in your decision about the war on a plant and users of this plant.

Revised April 2014

The marijuana plant contains several chemicals that may prove useful for treating a range of illnesses or symptoms, leading many people to argue that it should be made legally available for medical purposes. In fact, a growing number of states (20 as of March 2014) have legalized marijuana’s use for certain medical conditions.

The term “medical marijuana” is generally used to refer to the whole unprocessed marijuana plant or its crude extracts, which are not recognized or approved as medicine by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). But scientific study of the active chemicals in marijuana, called cannabinoids, has led to the development of two FDA-approved medications already, and is leading to the development of new pharmaceuticals that harness the therapeutic benefits of cannabinoids while minimizing or eliminating the harmful side effects (including the “high”) produced by eating or smoking marijuana leaves.

Are “Medical” and “Street” Marijuana Different?

In principle, no. Most marijuana sold in dispensaries as medicine is the same quality and carries the same health risks as marijuana sold on the street.

However, given the therapeutic interest in cannabidiol (CBD) to treat certain conditions such as childhood epilepsy, strains with a higher than normal CBD:THC ratio have been specially bred and sold for medicinal purposes; these may be less desirable to recreational users because of their weaker psychoactive effects.

What Are Cannabinoids and How Might They Be Useful Medically?

Cannabinoids are a large family of chemicals related to delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), marijuana’s main psychoactive (mind-altering) ingredient. Besides THC, the marijuana plant contains over 100 other cannabinoids. Scientists and manufacturers of “designer” drugs have also synthesized numerous cannabinoids in the laboratory (some of which are extremely potent and, when abused, have led to serious health consequences). The body also produces its own cannabinoid chemicals (called endocannabinoids), which play a role in regulating pleasure, memory, thinking, concentration, movement, coordination, sensory and time perception, appetite, and pain.

Currently the two main cannabinoids of interest therapeutically are THC and cannabidiol (CBD), found in varying ratios in the marijuana plant. THC stimulates appetite and reduces nausea (and there are already approved THC-based medications for these purposes), but it may also decrease pain, inflammation, and spasticity. CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that may also be useful in reducing pain and inflammation, controlling epileptic seizures, and possibly even treating psychosis and addictions.

Research funded by the NIH is actively investigating the possible therapeutic uses of THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids to treat autoimmune diseases, cancer, inflammation, pain, seizures, substance use disorders, and other psychiatric disorders.

Misperceptions of Safety

Growing acceptance of medical marijuana (and now its legalization for recreational use in two states) may be influencing how young people perceive the harm associated with marijuana use generally. Research shows that as high school seniors’ perception of marijuana’s risks goes down, their marijuana use goes up, and vice versa (see graph). Surveys show significant recent increases among 10th and 12th graders for daily, current, and past-year marijuana use.

High School Seniors’ Past-Year Marijuana Use and Perceived Risk of Marijuana Use, 1975–2010 - Research shows that as high school seniors’ perception of marijuana’s risks goes down, their marijuana use goes up, and vice versa

What Medications Contain Cannabinoids?

An FDA-approved drug called Dronabinol (Marinol®) contains THC and is used to treat nausea caused by chemotherapy and wasting disease (extreme weight loss) caused by AIDS. Another FDA-approved drug called Nabilone (Cesamet®) contains a synthetic cannabinoid similar to THC and is used for the same purposes.

A drug called Sativex®, which contains approximately equal parts THC and CBD, is currently approved in the UK and several European countries to treat spasticity caused by multiple sclerosis (MS), and it is now in Phase III clinical trials in the U.S. to establish its effectiveness and safety in treating cancer pain.

Although it has not yet undergone clinical trials to establish its effectiveness and safety (necessary to obtain FDA approval), a CBD-based drug called Epidiolex™ has recently been created to treat certain forms of childhood epilepsy. Some parents of children with a severe form of epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome have reported success in using a high-CBD strain of marijuana to control seizures in their children.

Why Isn’t the Marijuana Plant an FDA-Approved Medicine?

The FDA requires carefully conducted studies in large numbers of patients (hundreds to thousands) to accurately assess the benefits and risks of a potential medication. Thus far, there have not been enough large-scale clinical trials showing that benefits of the marijuana plant (as opposed to specific cannabinoid constituents) outweigh its risks in patients with the symptoms it is meant to treat.

The known safety concerns of marijuana include impairment of short-term memory; altered judgment and decisionmaking; and mood effects, including severe anxiety (paranoia) or even psychosis (loss of touch with reality), especially following high-dose exposures. Marijuana also significantly reduces motor coordination and slows reaction time, which makes it very dangerous to use before driving a car. Additionally, although we do not yet know whether marijuana smoking contributes to lung cancer risk, it can cause or worsen other respiratory problems such as bronchitis or chronic cough.

Are People With Health Problems More Vulnerable to Marijuana’s Risks?

Regular medicinal use of marijuana is a relatively new phenomenon, and for that reason its effects on people who are weakened or vulnerable because of illness are still relatively unknown. It is possible that people suffering from diseases such as cancer or AIDS may be more vulnerable to the drug’s various adverse effects. More research will be needed to determine if this is the case.

Growing evidence is showing that marijuana may be particularly harmful for young people: It may cause long-term or even permanent impairment in cognitive ability and intelligence when used regularly during adolescence, when the brain is still developing. There is also some evidence that marijuana use during pregnancy may be associated with neurological problems in babies and impaired school performance later in childhood.

Another safety concern is that, contrary to common belief, marijuana can be addictive: About 9% of people who try marijuana will become addicted to it. The number goes up to about 1 in 6 among people who start using marijuana as teenagers, and to 25-50% among daily users.

Paul Davis, Who Is Paul Davis? Poll numbers have him with a slight edge over Governor Brownback…read more…

This is the information, at least the most complete information I could find on little known challenger to incumbent, Governor Sam Brownback(R). So here ya go:

Paul Davis is a leader with a proven record of working across party lines to get things done for hardworking Kansas taxpayers. As Governor, Paul will work to end infighting and partisan gridlock in the State Capitol. He believes that by setting aside party differences and bringing people together, we can strengthen the economy, create jobs, and ensure that our children have access to a world class education.

Middle class beginnings, Kansas values.

A lifelong Kansan, Paul Davis is the son of two teachers who instilled in him the middle class Kansas values that bind our state together – hard work, education, and family. From a young age, Paul’s parents set high expectations for him, which later inspired both his legal career and involvement in public service. Paul attended Lawrence Public Schools and received an undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas. He then went on to earn his law degree from Washburn University in Topeka.

Paul’s wife, Stephanie, is a psychologist who specializes in trauma recovery for United States military veterans. Stephanie is passionate about helping the men and women who served our country in uniform and she commutes two hours a day to provide assistance to Kansas veterans.

Paul and Stephanie have a three-year-old daughter, Caroline, who enjoys growing sunflowers, ballet, and living just down the road from her grandma and grandpa.

Private sector experience

Paul has worked in the private sector for over a decade and has owned a law firm with his two business partners for several years. Paul entered the legal profession to help families and businesses solve problems and resolve conflicts in a fair and equitable way. He is a partner in the firm of Fagan, Emert & Davis. Throughout his legal career, Paul has worked with start-up companies, small businesses and some of the largest corporations in Kansas.

Paul understands the needs of Kansas businesses that are trying to grow, create jobs and remain profitable while coping with higher taxes and burdensome government regulation. He knows that government regulations can be overly burdensome and that the state tax code can determine whether a business gets off the ground or not.

Through this work, Paul also learned that government and business do not have to be adversaries. They can – and must – be partners in their joint quest to create jobs and grow Kansas communities. This belief has been a guiding principle of Paul’s legislative career.

A common sense leader

Paul joined the Kansas House of Representatives in 2003. Throughout his 11 years in the Kansas State Legislature, Paul’s bipartisan approach to governing, common sense leadership style, and commitment to fiscal responsibility earned him respect among Democrats and Republicans alike. These traits became especially evident when his peers elected him Kansas House Minority Leader in 2008 at the height of the worst economic recession since the Great Depression.

As a result of the global economic downturn, Kansas was engulfed in an historic budget crisis when Paul began his tenure as House Minority Leader. Despite six rounds of budget cuts, a $500 million budget shortfall was still projected during his first term as leader.

Using the pragmatism that propelled him to his role as a legislative leader, Paul built a bipartisan coalition to tackle the budget crisis head on. Together, this “Moderate Majority” negotiated a budget that protected Kansas public schools and core services from a 7th round of budget cuts, while still keeping state spending in check. The bipartisan budget reduced spending by $1.2 billion, prevented a $65 million property tax hike, and blocked an irresponsible $85 million cut to public schools. Paul ranks this among his most proud legislative accomplishments because it embodied all the things Kansans want from their elected leaders: bipartisanship, compromise, a commitment to public education, fiscal responsibility, and a determination to prevent further property tax hikes.

Despite the fiscal challenges of this time, Paul recognized that Kansas couldn’t simply cut its way out of the Great Recession. Our state’s long-term economic stability depended on our ability to create new Kansas jobs and attract new business investment. This is why he worked tirelessly to enact a 10-year, statewide transportation plan. This was a critical economic investment because most companies agree that infrastructure is a top consideration when choosing a location for a new or expanding business. It is also projected that the transportation plan will create 175,000 jobs over the next decade. It is the largest jobs package ever to pass in Kansas history, and it would never have become law without the support of the bipartisan coalition, led by Paul Davis.

A champion for Kansas’ kids

Paul comes from a family of teachers. He first ran for public office because he was deeply concerned about Topeka’s lack of support for Kansas public schools. As his daughter approaches kindergarten, public education remains his top priority.

Paul was proud to be part of the bipartisan coalition that passed the historic school finance legislation in 2005. It was difficult to put that progress on hold during the Great Recession, but Paul offered a plan to restore funding for our classrooms as soon as the state’s economy began to stabilize.

A commitment to strong public schools is just part of what makes Kansas special, and Paul believes that it is vital to our prospects for job creation and economic growth moving forward. Restoring our investment in Kansas schools ensures that kids across the state – from Kansas City to Dodge City – get the education they deserve. It also ensures that new and existing businesses have the educated workforce they need to grow and thrive. Paul believes that investing in education is not only the right thing to do for our kids, but good economics. It allows our children to make the most of their God-given talents and attracts good, high-wage jobs for our hard-working families.

Don’t Judge My Personal Beliefs and My First Amendment Rights! by Emery Myers

Don’t Judge My Personal Beliefs and My First Amendment Rights!

Written by Emery Myers

May 5, 2014

Bob Marley Judgement
Bob Marley was a man of peace and love. I echo his very wise words. Image courtesy of Google Images.

First, I would like to start by stating, I HAVEN’T MADE ANY MONEY OFF THIS BLOG. I have not received a single dime and I don’t plan on making any money from this blog. I have paid more than I will make. Bloggers don’t make a lot of money unless they are very established, and even then, it’s usually not a “lot” of money. I am not writing stories for anymore than entertainment, self-expression and my right to exercise the 1st Amendment of the Constitution of the United States, which I paid to defend in blood, sweat and tears.

Secondly, I am very passionate about certain subjects. Many of the subjects I have written about, I have personal experience with such as PTSD and Depression, but some automatically assume the article is about them. I hope my article do speak to some of you, but I would never use another person’s name without their express permission in my articles about subjects like these.

I am passionate about ending the American Human Rights Travesty known as the War on Drugs. I am passionate about the homeless rate and homeless people in the U.S. and I am passionate about medical marijuana being legal for all who suffer from disease and mental illness, under a doctor’s supervision. If you don’t agree with these items, you probably will not like a lot of the content I write.

Congress Shall Make NO LAW...First Amendment of the Constitution. Image Crtsy Google Img

Some stories may seem crazy, others are scientifically backed with references. Some are humor for adults and that is all.  My views are not your views, of course. I believe in the First Amendment and I also believe in respecting other people’s viewpoints. If you don’t like my articles, please, don’t read them. I don’t write my articles to offend anyone. If you do like them, please, keep coming back! We are all individuals and all add color to the palate of this planet!

I am an advocate for people. If I see someone suffering, I try to help. If I see a homeless person, I don’t think “why don’t they get a job“. I think to myself “life must be really hard for them“. I realize that they may have physical or mental illness that are untreated. I realize they are people, just as equal as any ONE of us. I realize that anyone of us could be in their same, exact situation regardless if we believe so or not.

Where is homelessness getting worse? As you can see, Kansas is at the top of where homelessness is getting worse! Image courtesy of Google Images

I stopped to speak to a homeless man in my city recently. I live in Kansas, and Kansas is a state with one of the largest growths in homelessness. The homeless man was waiting for disability, (which takes a LONG time to get) and after speaking to him, he needs it, absolutely. It saddened me to see people posting things on Facebook about this individual. People are so judgmental of others at times. With the million-dollar churches in our small town of 48,000, I would think someone could help him a little more. Churches have to keep that collection plate full though, I am sure the operating costs of some of these Gargantuan Churches makes charitable work hard for them to do… ~sarcasm intended! Why don’t the churches take care of the poor and homeless? Some have pseudo fund-raisers but their actions speak much more than their words. It seems the smallest, poorest churches do the most for fellow human-beings. I guess that is a metaphor for life these days.

Homeless Veterans in America. The cold, hard facts about the way our government treats it's military veterans after they are of no use to the government. #PTSD

Do you know how many veterans are homeless? It’s a pandemic in the United States and PTSD is very real. Kindness not judgement is what I try to live by. Judgement isn’t my job but I can certainly give a homeless person a few bucks or buy them a meal. It sets a great example for my children also. I have noticed many people are almost angry at the homeless. I don’t understand that reaction to a human being that is out of options.
Black Americans Pay the Price Still in America. Black people are much more likely to go to prison for minor, non-violent drug offenses and they use drugs at the same rate or less than caucasian people. This is a great, racist hypocrisy in America. Image courtesy of Google Images.

I also fight for freedoms and to end the ruthless War on Drugs. I am an advocate for Medical Marijuana in a state that is so red, I have lost friends, family, been accused of being a “stoner”, name-called and even had death wished upon me FROM A (former now) FAMILY MEMBER! It has been crazy. Just because I exercise my rights in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. I feel that I have earned those rights by fighting for my country as a U.S. Marine.

This is a picture of me in my Marine Corps Dress Blues right before the war in Iraq started.
This is a picture of me in my Marine Corps Dress Blues right before the war in Iraq started.

I have even had family members insult my honorable service of a total of 8 years in the Marine Corps. I no longer talk to those people and will not talk to them again. I can be kind but I also have pride and wisdom enough to stay away from a hornet’s nest full of angry, hypocritical people. This case, very religious people who only see the world through their own rose-colored lenses!

I don’t support the NRA but I do support the Second Amendment as it is written. Many Americans have never read it, they just know it has to do with gun ownership and the “right to bear arms”, but do not understand the Amendment themselves. This is absolutely dangerous.

I carry on though, questioning if it is worth it. Maybe it isn’t?  Nobody really reads any of the articles I write anyways. I just want to be part of a positive change for people out there suffering. I want people to have options to treat their diseases without fear of being put in prison or dying in a jail cell like this Kansas woman (click this link for KC Star Article):                 Brenda Sewell Dies in Jail Cell for small amount of cannabis. This happened very recently IN KANSAS!

A 58-year-old woman is dead over a little bit of a plant! Is that justice? Is that what the war on drugs is protecting us from? She is dead because of the WAR ON DRUGS! She is dead because the police did not give a sick woman her medications. She was a mother, daughter, sister… an American! Dead because she was getting medicine for her painful conditions and disease processes. This is a tragedy, already forgotten or never even heard of by most Kansans and Americans!

Ms. Sewell is another victim of the travesty known as the “War on Drugs”. This 40 year war has killed, injured and imprisoned millions making the U.S. the Prison Nation of the World amongst its peers. Here is why we are the LEADER in incarcerated Americans:

President Nixon's racist war on the poor started the industry of incarceration in the United States. An almost impeached crook started this war that has spanned 4 decades!
President Nixon’s racist war on the poor started the industry of incarceration in the United States. An almost impeached crook started this war that has spanned 4 decades! Image courtesy of Google Images.

The U.S. has 5% of the world’s population but 25% of the worlds prisoners. Does anyone really think this is okay? The War on Drugs has ruined so many 1st time, non-violent offenders lives, and their families’ lives. I am talking NON-VIOLENT offenders. I believe, if violence is part of the crime, then absolutely the perpetrator needs to go through the judicial process. The 18-year-old kid that gets sentenced for a first offence that is non-violent sale of a very small amount of marijuana… that is a whole different story. Many will get a decade in prison for a small amount of a plant because of mandatory minimum sentencing.

Why wouldn’t I fight to protect democracy? I have been doing so since I joined the Marine Corps at age 17 through the delayed entry program, as a senior in high school.

Democracy majority rules
Democracy majority rules right? We all know that the system of government doesn’t operate this way. If it did, we would have much more freedom to pursue happiness and health! Image courtesy of Google Images

Homelessness and the war on drugs go hand in hand. The War on Drugs has been nothing more than a War on the Poor… a Racist war on the poor…the homeless…the people with nobody to advocate for them!

This homeless veteran of Vietnam served his country proudly as a Marine. Where is his country now?
This homeless veteran of Vietnam served his country proudly as a Marine. Where is his country now? This should NOT EVER happen in America. The U.S. Government took this man’s life with a war over communism? What did that war accomplish. I wish I could ask the Marine in this picture. Image courtesy of Google Images.

Here is another story out of hundreds, even thousands of first time, non-violent offenders either being injured or dying after being arrested for misdemeanor cannabis possession. No violence, just simply using a plant. Here is a video of a 22-year-old man who died within 24 hours of turning himself in for Misdemeanor marijuana possession:

I can post more, but you can also do an easy search on these tragic losses due to the 40 year war on drugs. Click the link if you want more information.

In closing, I would like to thank all of my true friends and family members for supporting my first amendment rights. I would like to thank all those who follow my blog. It means the world to me. I would also like to thank all of the veterans and veteran’s families for the sacrifices you have made, continue to make and will make in the future. Our poor and middle-class fight the wars for the rich in this country, but we do it with pride and dignity, unlike the politicians and ultra-rich that use us for their career and monetary gain. Thanks again!

Dr. William Courtney Calls Child “A Miracle Baby”

Dr. William Courtney
Medical marijuana is gaining acceptance, but could it even help kids? Dr. William Courtney has seen it happen, and on Friday, told HuffPost Live host Alyona Minkovski about it. Saying he was “quite a skeptic 5 or 6 years ago”, Dr. Courtney continued that “my youngest patient is 8 months old, and had a very massive centrally

located inoperable brain tumor.” The child’s father pushed for non-traditional treatment utilizing cannabis.  “They were putting cannabinoid oil on the baby’s pacifier twice a day, increasing the dose… And within two months there was a dramatic reduction, enough that the pediatric oncologist allowed them to go ahead with not pursuing traditional therapy.”The tumor was remarkably reduced after eight months of treatment. Dr. Courtney pointed out that the success of the cannabis approach means that “this child, because of that, is not going to have the long-term side effects that would come from a very high dose of chemotherapy or radiation… currently the child’s being called a miracle baby, and I would have to agree that this is the perfect response that we should be insisting is front line therapy for all children before they launch off on all medications that have horrific long term side effects.”

Warrior I Will Stay Strong I Will Fight I Will Win
Laney is presently bleeding inside. She bleeds through damaged areas in her large intestine. She is not in remission now, even though she takes Azothiaprine, 100miligrams per day. She is fighting… fighting pain, fatigue, nausea, depression, anxiety, herself…at 7 years old! No 7-year-old should have to be subjected to this but Laney doesn’t think this way. She is positive and optimistic on the outside but I know she is terrified on the inside! She is just TOO TOUGH to let anyone smell the fear, the pain, deep inside her tiny, damaged tummy.
Azothiaprine DESTROYS Laney’s immune system. Why, you may ask does she take the drug then? It is the lesser of 2 evils at this time. Azothiaprine puts her immune system in a “head-lock”, if you will, preventing her tummy from being attacked, in specific, her gastrointestinal system.
The problem is, it is a very TOXIC chemical, continually damaging  her small master organ, her liver! Presently, Laney has lab drawn weekly to make sure her liver is tolerating the DRUG…the FDA approved Killer Drug. If this drug continues to cause problems, then Laney will be faced with intravenous chemotherapy, which increases her chances of various cancers to 11%! She is only 7…
Crohn’s is the WORST auto-immune disease affecting the entire GI tract from the mouth to the anus. Crohn’s Disease causes many severe problems in the GI tract and can attack anywhere along the GI tract.

Laney completely hid the pain during Taekwondo Testing. The constant aching and stabbing sensations in the lower abdomen was a perpetual reminder she can’t ever escape from Crohn’s Disease.
The bloated belly feels full and urgent, constantly, but you wouldn’t know if you looked at Laney performing her “Forms” perfectly. Sparring like she has the spirit of a Lioness in her…I think she does!

Laney is NOT responding well, at all, to the drug Azothiaprine. She has elevations in her liver enzymes, 5 times the normal level, which indicates moderate to severe liver damage. The bill, HB 2198 and SB9, were introduced several years ago, the bill is the Cannabis Compassion and Care Act. If passed, patients such as Laney, could have LEGAL ACCESS to specific strains of medical marijuana.
The strains have very little THC, the psychoactive component, but high amounts of cannabinoids or CBDs. The CBDs are responsible for halting Crohn’s disease and inducing remission… complete remission!

Kansas Government either won’t give Kansans freedom and choice, or will just keep doing the status-quo,                                 the “same-ol-same-ol-good-ol-boy-” political routine, which the Kansas House and Senate have practiced for the last 40 years, since President Nixon!!!

Nature’s medicine…Fact: Most “pharmaceutical medication is derived from nature, plants.”

“Unlike many of the drugs we prescribe every day, marijuana has never been proven to cause a fatal overdose.”

Kansas House passes bill allowing refusal of service to same-sex couples

  • Gay and lesbian couples in Kansas may be refused service more often
  • A bill protects individuals, groups and organizations that turn them away for religious reasons
  • It “seeks to enshrine discrimination,” rights group leader says
  • If one employee refuses to serve, the employer must ask others to

Denying services to same-sex couples may soon become legal in Kansas.

House Bill 2453 explicitly protects religious individuals, groups and businesses that refuse services to same-sex couples, particularly those looking to tie the knot.

It passed the state’s Republican-dominated House on Wednesday with a vote of 72-49, and has gone to the Senate for a vote.

Such a law may seem unnecessary in a state where same-sex marriage is banned, but some Kansas lawmakers think different.

They want to prevent religious individuals and organizations from getting sued, or otherwise punished, for not providing goods or services to gay couples — or for not recognizing their marriages or committed relationship as valid.

This includes employees of the state.

The politics

The law claims to protect the rights of religious people, but gender rights advocates such as Equality Kansas are dismayed.

“Kansans across the state are rightly appalled that legislators are spending their efforts to pass yet another piece of legislation that seeks to enshrine discrimination against gay and lesbian people into law,” state chairwoman Sandra Meade said.

“HB 2453 is a blatant attempt to maintain second-class citizen status for taxpaying gay and lesbian Kansans.”

Despite the blowback, its chances of passing seem pretty good.

Republicans dominate the state’s Senate and Gov. Sam Brownback is a conservative Christian known for taking a public stand against same-sex marriage.

Brownback has already praised the bill in an interview with a local newspaper.

“Americans have constitutional rights, among them the right to exercise their religious beliefs and the right for every human life to be treated with respect and dignity,” he told The Topeka Capital-Journal.

The details

HB 2453 is titled “An act concerning religious freedoms with respect to marriage” and covers many bases.

It reads, in part: “No individual or religious entity shall be required by any governmental entity to do any of the following, if it would be contrary to the sincerely held religious beliefs of the individual or religious entity regarding sex or gender:

“Provide any services, accommodations, advantages, facilities, goods, or privileges; provide counseling, adoption, foster care and other social services; or provide employment or employment benefits, related to, or related to the celebration of, any marriage, domestic partnership, civil union or similar arrangement.”

Anyone who turns away a gay couple not only can’t face a civil suit, but if anyone tries to sue, they could get nailed with the other side’s legal fees.

There are some small concession in the bill to gay couples.

If an employee at a nonreligious or government business refuses to serve a gay or lesbian couple for religious reasons, the manager is obligated to find another employee who will oblige.

It also explicitly says that the law does not authorize discrimination against anyone, including clergy, who performs or supports same-sex unions.

The trend

The Kansas bill would seem to buck the trend.

Laws approving same-sex marriage have recently passed in many parts of the United States, bringing the total number of states where it is legal to 17. Add to that the District of Columbia.

Worldwide, 16 other countries (and parts of Mexico) also have laws allowing same-sex marriage and domestic partnerships. Most of the nations are in Europe and South America.

Beautiful Butterfly for now...

The Ecological State of Butterflies in High Definition! HD Life!

A Monarch floating on a natural canvas.
Oval Blues:Perfect Hues of Blues…Shades completely  impossible to recreate by  man! Just as the Monarch that floats on the Unique, Hues of Oval  Blues!

Beauty is everywhere and nowhere, depending if our eyes are closed to the world, or wide-open, focused on our Planet! Our eyes are evolving to see only LCD screens! Real HD is simply, observing nature with your own two specially evolved eye balls!

Most of us walk around, blind to the specks of brilliance, all over our little worlds. Fluorescent lighting and computer screens have desensitized our visual acuity! We take for granted, which evolution and survival gave us… The most beautiful organs, the windows to the human psyche, the perfect, stunning human eyes! We think our natural world will always be there…BUT…at present, climate change and deforestation of the South American Rain-forests threaten many species and have already eradicated many other species!

The increasingly endangered Glasswing Butterfly. Soon this beautiful insect will be gone…for good, due to changing climates and deforestation coupled with increasing green house gasses.

Just because we can’t see South America and the Amazon from here, doesn’t mean we aren’t responsible. Sarah Palin may be able to see Russia from her house, but we can’t see the destruction and damage we are causing, to the whole planet, with our wasteful, ignorant, antiquated ways of manufacturing practices and our disregard for what top scientists have proven! How many more species will become extinct before we do? Science offers hope, if we start embracing science instead of war and religion. Religion and war do not mix with science and human advancement. We have recorded evidence of history repeating itself. Its time we listened to science and the experienced people in these scientific fields or we are going to lose more butterflies! Maybe after we lose US!

Here in America, we continue to eradicate nature, such as the Hemp plant this beautiful butterfly is perched on. Industrial Hemp has been legalized recently by our Federal Government but it still remains taboo to many people here in the U.S.A., which is traditionally, behind most other countries, even some third-world-countries! We can’t take care of our own, how are we going to preserve nature at its finest and most delicate?

Natures very definition is “the phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the earth, as opposed to humans or human creations.” ~Websters Dictionary~.

To me, this definition infers that nature does NOT need us but we DO NEED NATURE! I mean, really how much science do we need to prove this titanium fact? Do human-beings really need to see the outcome of the current trauma? Humans are raping the planet! I don’t need an evolutionary biologist like Richard Dawkins to explain this simple concept…none of us do, except for the far right-wing republicans AKA the “tea-party”. This party does not believe in “climate change” or “global warming”. That’s going to make our next butterfly extinct!

“The report is based on a survey of Mexico‘s Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve done in December 2013. The butterflies, which spend the winter hibernating in the reserve’s forest, occupied only 1.65 acres (0.6 hectare) in December 2013—a 44 percent drop from 2012, when theinsects covered 2.76 acres (1.12 hectares) of land. The survey was conducted by the WWF-Telcel Alliance and Mexico’s National Commission for Protected Areas.” ~National Geographic~

These magnificent creatures are slowly disappearing…some not so slow. Scientific data already is proving that Monarch Migration is down 44%! Scientists report climate change is the main change but all of the pesticides, deforestation and greenhouse gasses are also dooming the Monarchs to extinction. Can you imagine a life without the Monarchs? I can’t. I’m a simple country boy, Monarchs always comforted me and I could count on the friendly little sprites to bring me luck and good fortune every year. I have noticed fewer and fewer every year! I had more hummingbirds this year than Monarchs in my garden!

How can we let this priceless, beautiful, biological artwork become extinct? We wouldn’t let our Constitution be destroyed. We wouldn’t let our Declaration of Independence bed destroyed. Why are we letting an evolutionary, biological piece of art like this rare butterfly, become extinct? I think it has to do with a hue…a hue of Green! Evil always has a good foundation in money! That’s how humans will become extinct someday too at the present rate we are going. Humans are too greedy and ignorant to evolve at this trajectory. Humans are doomed at the current destructive rate they are traveling at!

Beauty is fleeting, we all know this. Natural Beauty like this can be preserved though, with a complete change in our habits and our consumption. Humans have all become “Consumers” in the civilized countries of the world. I say “civilized” but are we really? America itself, is a huge consumer of war and military people and equipment. It is what Eisenhower warned of “the military machine” that is the U.S. President Eisenhower was right again!

Money! Rich get Richer and the Poor, well you know… It’s the green, the greed, that are destroying our ecological balance! It is the usual politics and rich versus the poor.

Butterfly Red image from google images
Butterfly Red by ~unknown artist~  doesn’t exactly mean “butterfly” in an insect-kind-of-way…but it is still natural beauty, for the most part! courtesy GoogleImages.

This visual explosion of RED screams color! Eyeballs bulge and ears ring when processing this image! It is Bizarre and beautiful! Just like human-beings!

Angry yet graceful imagery. Slightly sensual but organic…natural and innocent in nature with a side of naughty! Butterfly Red!
